"I love creating, and the application of paint to canvas allows me to produce something in an area where very little was initially present. Working with bright colors and light allows me to create calming and uplifting pieces that I hope permeate the spaces of others with energy and positivity. The modern world can be a complex place which requires us to refer back to our more natural surroundings. It is my wish that many of my paintings can give people a sense that they are already there." -Royah Loie
Royah has been drawing and painting since a very young age. Over
the years she has worked with various materials and has always enjoyed
studying and experimenting with new colors and styles. Being a multidisciplinary artist, she
has produced various pieces with watercolors, charcoal, oils and
acrylic. While her recent artwork is in acrylic, she also continues to
work with oil paints. Her
paintings often incorporate images of the natural world such as
landscapes, trees, insects and plants. She also has expertise in portraiture. Currently, she is
experimenting with the process of producing natural dyes as a more
sustainable alternative to traditional paints.
Royah's artwork has been displayed at various venues in Toronto, Montreal, Kingston, Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York. Her recent work was created in southern Ontario, where she lives along with her husband and daughter.
